Hi everyone… we have just finished a very exciting four days with New Life Church in Limulunga, Mongu Province! Among the first for us… the conference sessions on Saturday went for over 12 hours straight! We had a fantastic time with a very wonderful people with great teaching from Jeremy on our identity in Christ and from Joseph Mwila on “going to the next village”. There was plenty of prophetic opportunities throughout our visit with evidences of people’s lives being changed. Very cool indeed! Many of those attending traveled over ten hours on foot to be at the conference demonstrating such a hunger for community and God’s word.
We leave very shortly via a return flight to Lusaka with Flying Mission Zambia and our trusted pilot Jason Speichinger. He even let me fly the plane in the way here (not!). We return to Canada with our first leg of the home journey to London at 2:00am Wednesday. We are looking forward to seeing everyone!
As our church plant in Charlottetown enters their third year, what a privilege for the Crummey family and Gary and Barb Gallant to serve at the church weekend. We had over ninety children and adults participate from Friday evening until Sunday afternoon.
I was able to start the first teaching session on Saturday morning, “Grace: Looking Back with Freedom” from Colossians 2:6-15. What a joy to speak about our salvation in Christ and how God’s grace is amazing –we get what we didn’t deserve! We deepened our understanding that as Christians we are raised with Christ, redeemed by Christ, and now we reign in life through Christ. Gary followed this with “Grace: Looking Up with Hope” –emphasizing that the Holy Spirit is given to us as a gift to strengthen us, especially as we face trials, struggles and setbacks.
We enjoyed an afternoon filled with friendship, a painting class, sports, group games and shared meals together. The Saturday evening featured an entertaining variety show (the Crummey family has hid the video of our performance!!) and some good old campfire songs and silliness.
Sunday was a beautiful day and after breakfast we celebrated in worship our Great Saviour, with many encouraging prophetic words about going out with good news. This helped prepare our hearts for the third message, “Grace: Looking Outward with Boldness” (Colossians 4:2-18). I taught on how we freely receive grace from God, in order to freely give grace to others. This culture of grace will be what enables this church to share the gospel in word and deed.
We ended the weekend with a communion meal and then four youth were baptized –what a wonderful picture of the grace of God! Thank you for your prayers and for blessing us to go and serve. We have received many positive reports of people drawing nearer to Christ, and many being encouraged and strengthened. Amen.
